Xbox Studios games top sales on PS5

PlayStation gamers no longer have to worry about whether or not buying an Xbox to enjoy Xbox exclusives is a good idea. Microsoft has fully embraced its multiplatform strategy and is publishing more and more titles from Sony's Xbox Game Studios.

PS5 gamers therefore have the luxury of enjoying them at launch, like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, or quickly after their release, like Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle. The icing on the cake for Sony, but also for Microsoft: Xbox Game Studios titles are selling like hotcakes on PS5.

Former Xbox exclusives top the sales charts on the PlayStation Store

Sony has just revealed the list of the most downloaded games on the PlayStation Store in April. In the United States and Canada, the top spot goes to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. A certain Forza Horizon 5, recently released on PS5, is on the top spot in Europe, followed by Bethesda's RPG and Minecraft.

Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle is also in the top 10 in Europe, while Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is performing equally well in America and on the Old Continent, even several months after its release. This is enough to give water to Xbox's mill: its old exclusives are selling very well on PS5.

A win-win business for the two great rivals of the 21st century in the video game market. Microsoft therefore has every reason to continue delivering games from its studios to competing platforms. This is why a certain Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of the first installment in the franchise, will be released on PC, Xbox Series, and also on PS5 on August 26, 2025. Players will be able to (re)discover this cult title in 4K and 120 fps.

It should be noted, however, that some flagship titles from the Xbox catalog are still awaiting release on PS5. For several months, rumors have been circulating about the arrival of Starfield, released in September 2023, on Sony's console. Avowed, the Obsidian RPG available since February 13, also does not have a PS5 version to date.

For its part, Sony continues to bring PlayStation Studios games to PC, and only to PC. This is logical, since its flagship licenses such as Spider-Man, God of War, The Last of Us and Horizon are System sellers. In other words, they help sell PS5s. Sony therefore has no interest in porting them to Xbox or publishing them simultaneously on PS5 and PC if it wants to sell its own machines.
