Xiaomi CEO releases first information on its future YU7 SUV, its autonomy is crazy

There was a time when Tesla dominated the electric car market. But today, competition is fierce, especially in China. Brands like BYD, Nio, Xpeng, and Li Auto are vying for market share with increasingly advanced models. Faced with this ultra-competitive ecosystem, some tech companies like Xiaomi are also deciding to enter the race, with vehicles designed to combine innovation and performance.

This is the case for Xiaomi. The company's CEO, Lei Jun, has revealed initial information about its future electric SUV, called YU7. This model enriches the range after the remarkable release of the SU7 sedan. Relayed by Car News China, the latter's words confirm the arrival of a high-end vehicle. This one, whose official launch is scheduled for May 22, 2025, is designed to combine technology, power, and comfort.

The Xiaomi YU7 is capable of traveling 820 km on a single charge

The YU7 is a large luxury SUV. It measures nearly 5 meters long and has a wheelbase of 3 meters, which allows it to offer generous interior space. Two versions are planned: one with a single 235 kW rear motor, and a more powerful one with two motors for a total of 508 kW, or 691 horsepower. The announced top speed is 253 km/h. On the battery side, two capacities are planned: 96.3 kWh and 101.7 kWh. The latter would allow a range of up to 820 km according to the Chinese CLTC cycle.

Xiaomi promises a high-end interior with high-quality materials, autonomous driving functions, and extensive integration of its connected services. The design follows the lines of the SU7, but with a more massive silhouette. The name YU7 evokes the image of a fast tank carried by the wind, according to the brand. The price would be between 400,000 and 500,000 yuan, or approximately between 55,000 and 70,000 euros. Deliveries should begin shortly after the presentation, scheduled for the third quarter of 2025.
