Amazon Business strengthens its strategy in France: between purchasing simplification, AI and CSR

Today, businesses are looking to buy better, cheaper, faster, and more responsibly, which is why Amazon Business is positioning itself as a partner of choice.

Since its launch in France in 2018, the platform has attracted the largest groups, with a strong presence among 90% of CAC40 companies, as well as 160,000 SMEs, thousands of communities, schools, universities, and healthcare establishments. This success is explained in particular by a plethora of 350 million references, centralized invoicing, intelligent reporting tools and average savings of 13% achieved thanks to Amazon's negotiating power.

A powerful ally

The example of the Domitys group, the French leader in senior service residences, illustrates the power of the tool. Faced with a diversity of purchases that was difficult to centralize and a lack of field visibility, the company opted for Amazon Business in 2019 to better manage its "class C purchases". Result: a deployment in just two months, 1,400 employees made more autonomous, and a turnover on the platform increased from 90,000 to 600,000 euros. Domitys has gained in efficiency, while reducing the logistical burden on its internal teams.

But beyond streamlining, this conference also highlighted two levers that are now strategic for purchasing departments: corporate social responsibility (CSR) and artificial intelligence. "Scope 3" – the one that concerns suppliers and their emissions – represents up to 90% of companies' greenhouse gas emissions. Yet, only 19% of decision-makers surveyed make CSR a priority for 2025, compared to 44% in 2024. A paradox that Amazon intends to help resolve. The platform now integrates filters to promote responsible purchasing (local products, SMEs, "Climate Pledge Friendly" labels), limits packaging, and promotes CSR criteria in calls for tender, as Domitys already does. The key: 36 tons of paper recycled in one year, and a residence that has reduced its CO2 emissions by 40 tons in 2024.

Finally, AI is gradually becoming the lifeblood of the industry. According to Amazon Business's annual study, 98% of purchasing departments want to invest in artificial intelligence, primarily to optimize processes and anticipate needs. Amazon already relies on algorithms to generate personalized alerts, identify anomalies, or recommend relevant products. A way to reconcile time savings, budget control, and long-term strategic vision.
