A sports streaming platform, DAZN has obtained the exclusive worldwide rights to broadcast the 2025 Club World Cup. But unlike industry practice, where major competitions are often locked behind paid subscriptions, DAZN has decided to offer all 63 matches for free via its app. Simply create a free account to access it, without a credit card or commitment.
It's a clear strategy: attract a new audience and raise awareness of its "freemium" offer, recently launched in France. This free version already allows you to follow events such as the Women's Champions League or certain exclusive content. With this strong gesture around the Club World Cup, DAZN intends to make a big splash and establish itself as a key player in sports streaming.
"We can't wait to experience the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup on DAZN. This new competition will be a major celebration of world football, bringing together major European teams and iconic clubs from around the world. DAZN is putting the resources in place to match its ambitions, with significant investments to promote and promote this exciting new competition.» Brice Daumin, Managing Director of DAZN France.
The best clubs and players in European and world football
Organized from June 15 to July 13, 2025, this first edition promises to be a significant highlight before the summer holidays. The format is evolving: 32 clubs divided into 8 groups of 4, for a total of 63 matches played in 12 stadiums across the United States. The top two teams in each group will advance to the round of 16, in a format very similar to that of a traditional FIFA World Cup. Among the qualified clubs will be the biggest teams in world football, including Real Madrid, Manchester City, Flamengo, Al Ahly and PSG.
The group stage matches will take place at 6:00 PM, 9:00 PM, midnight and 3:00 AM (CET), while the final phase will follow a specific schedule.
Paris Saint-Germain, the only French representative led by Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola and Désiré Doué, but also Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, Chelsea, as well as iconic clubs such as Argentina's Boca Junior, River Plate and Fluminense and Botafogo for Brazil, will try to win the first FIFA Club World Cup. The greatest French and world players will be in the United States: on the French side, Kylian Mbappé, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga and Ferland Mendy (Real Madrid), Antoine Griezmann (Atletico de Madrid), Randal Kolo Muani and Khéphren Thuram (Juventus FC), Benjamin Pavard and Marcus Thuram (Inter Milan) and Michael Olise and Dayot Upamecano (Bayern Munich) will be in the spotlight, while on the global level, we will notably find Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), and Leo Messi (Inter Miami).
The DAZN system: a close immersion with the players and “Club World Cup Show” a daily magazine
The unprecedented global partnership between DAZN and FIFA allows the world’s leading sports streaming platform to offer a wealth of rich and varied content. Throughout the competition, DAZN will have access never before seen in a major international competition: interviews with players and coaches before and during matches, content between matches, access to the locker rooms, sound system from the dugouts, etc.
As part of DAZN's global network, reporting teams will follow all the teams involved in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. For France, Georges Quirino will be DAZN's special correspondent for Paris Saint-Germain, pitchside with prestigious guests on match days and up close with the players throughout the competition.
In France, Paris Saint-Germain legends Mamadou Sakho and Claude Makélélé join the DAZN team of commentators and consultants: Julien Brun, Adrien Courouble, Hamza Rahmani, Youlian Boubnov, Benoit Cheyrou, Charlotte Lorgeré, Jimmy Cabot, Jérémy Menez and Walid Acherchour.
"I am very happy to be joining DAZN for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. It's a new experience for me and I'm looking forward to the challenge. As a Parisian, I'm obviously particularly looking forward to commentating on and analyzing Paris Saint-Germain's matches and seeing the European champions go as far as possible in this new competition." Mamadou Sakho.
A daily 90-minute show, FIFA Club World Cup 2025, the Mag, will be broadcast every day of the competition to debrief and analyze the matches played and provide key insights into the upcoming matches. FIFA Club World Cup 2025, the Mag will be presented by Ambre Godillon and Virginie Sainsily, alongside Walid Acherchour and consultants Benoit Cheyrou, Jeremy Menez, Charlotte Lorgeré, Gaël Clichy and Jimmy Cabot.
Innovations in production to follow the competition in immersion
For the first time in an international football competition, referees will be equipped with a ref cam, a portable camera, to put fans at the heart of the action.
Another new feature: the broadcast of matches will integrate an HDR signal for the first time, for total immersion.
DAZN will also offer a rich range of VOD content, including near-live goals, highlights of all matches, magazines, interviews and reports. Fans will also be able to follow all the goals, analysis, and highlights from the shows on social media.
TF1 also in the dance
DAZN won't be the only one broadcasting the matches. The TF1 group has also secured the rights for two key matches: the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético Madrid, scheduled for Sunday, June 15 at 9 p.m., as well as the grand final, scheduled for Sunday, July 13 at 9 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast free-to-air on the first channel. With this sharing of rights, the Club World Cup is gaining maximum visibility, both via streaming and on traditional television. A hybrid model that could well herald a new era for major sporting competitions.
A new era of sports broadcasting?
The decision to offer such a competition free-to-air and free of charge is far from trivial. It marks a strategic turning point, at the crossroads between accessibility, audience engagement and the digital transformation of sport. For DAZN, it is an opportunity to differentiate itself in an ultra-competitive landscape dominated by beIN, Canal+ and Amazon Prime Video.
For viewers, it is a rare opportunity: to enjoy a prestigious tournament, with the best clubs in the world, without paying anything. At a time when inflation is also affecting sports subscriptions, and where IPTV is still king, this free service comes at the perfect time!
