20 years after the end of Prison Break, we wondered what had become of the actors and actresses of the M6 series.
Prison Break hit hard on M6 in 2006 with its relentless prison universe, its gallery of characters as merciless as they are endearing, and its famous opening theme song performed by Faf Larage. In 5 seasons, the Fox series captivated teenagers in the 2000s, establishing itself as one of the best of its kind (along with Orange is a New Black and long before that with Oz). This success is notably due to the actors Wentworth Miller (Michael Scofield) and Dominic Purcell (Lincoln Burrows), the former getting a tattoo of the map of Fox River Prison to help the latter, who is incidentally his brother, escape. If fans wonder what has become of the characters since then, it is clear that they have changed a lot.
#7 Wentworth Miller - Michael Scofield
After a role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, he was cast in the role of Michael Scofield. Vampires, Wentworth Miller revealed himself in Prison Break. This little genius who tried everything to get his brother out of Fox River Prison. After his character's death in season 5 in 2017, and after a sixth that was never released, Wentworth Miller joined the DC universe: in The Flash in 2014 and then Legends of Tomorrow. In the meantime, he wrote the screenplay for the film Stoker by South Korean director Park Chan-Wook. But it was in 2013 and this open letter in which he came out (in response to anti-LGBT laws in Russia) that he made a name for himself. In it, he talks about the pressure he was under, hiding his sexual orientation in Hollywood, his depressive episodes, and his suicide attempts as a teenager. Later, he opened up again, announcing that he never wanted to play heterosexual characters in cinema again.
# 6 Dominic Purcell - Lincoln Burrows
The two brothers shared the bill in the series The Flash in 2014 and then Legends of Tomorrow, opening up to the DC universe. Dominic Purcell then kept a low profile, apart from a few appearances in the series Arrow and Supergirl, always with the shaved head that characterizes his characters. But the 55-year-old actor has changed a lot today. In an Instagram photo posted to his profile, Dominic Purcell has transformed himself with a long, white Santa beard and his hair pulled back, hidden under a cap. His muscles, however, remain as impressive as ever. Enough to surprise his 1.8 million followers. Why such a sudden change? Is the actor hiding an upcoming role as a bad boy from his fans? Perhaps for the needs of the series Snatchback, in which he will reunite with his longtime sidekick Wentworth Miller.
#5 Sarah Wayne Callies - Sara Tancredi
Killed off and then brought back in season 4 at the request of fans, Sarah Tancredi also found success thanks to Prison Break. She played the young prison doctor and Michael Scofield's love interest. A success that opened the doors to the post-apocalyptic series The Walking Dead in 2010. This time, she played Lori Grimes, wife of the hero Rick Grimes. She bid farewell to the series after her significant death in season 3. Afterwards, she went on to appear in four series thanks to this role: Colony, The Long Road Home, Council of Dads, and The Company You Keep in 2013. The sadistic and manipulative criminal. That's how to identify Theodore Bagwell, aka T-Bag in Prison Break. A character who is sometimes hated, sometimes fascinating. A true cornerstone of the show since he was present during the revival in 2017. Robert Knepper then had supporting roles in rather popular series such as 'Heroes, The Flash (via a cameo), Twin Peaks: The Return, Homeland, Hawaii Five-O, as well as in the films Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. Very often, he plays the role of the great charismatic villains. A role that suits him perfectly. But in 2017, his career took a hit after he was repeatedly accused of sexual assault. These events allegedly took place between the 1980s and 2010s. At 65, we probably won't see Robert Knepper in the role of an antagonist again anytime soon.#3 Amaury Nolasco - Fernando Sucre
Michael Scofield's loyal and funny best friend is undoubtedly one of the favorite characters of Prison Break fans. After season 4 (2009), and his return in the final season 5, Amaury Nolasco moved into the cinema, and more specifically into big action licenses.Transformers (2007), Max Payne the following year, then A Good Day to Die Hard in 2013. At the same time, the Puerto Rican actor campaigns for the Latino cause through conventions and humanitarian actions, particularly after the devastating Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico in 2017 (3,000 deaths).
#2 Wade Williams - Brad Bellick
Unlike the actors and actresses mentioned above, Wade Williams did not become known to the general public in his role as the cruel head of security at Fox River. X-Files, Charmed, Six Feet Under, 24, NCIS, Veronica Mars are all series well known to young audiences from the late 90s/2000s in which he appeared. His role as Brad Bellick nevertheless remains his most iconic. The series gave real depth to the character over the seasons, going from villainous "warden" to an unexpected ally of the heroes. He returned as a prison guard in 2012 in the excellent The Dark Knight Rises, the final installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. Since then, he has kept a low profile in his acting career.
#1 William Fichtner - Alexander Mahone
William Fichtner only appears in season 2 of Prison Break. An FBI special agent, he is tasked with tracking down the eight escapees from Fox River, including Michael and Lincoln. A unique antagonist role in season 2, since he is in turn imprisoned in Panama in season 3 after a murder. But William Fichtner also has a career in cinema, and not just any films: Contact, Heat, Armageddon, Black Hawk Down,or that banker role at the very beginning of The Dark Knight, the opus in which Batman faces off against the Joker. His latest project: the villain Eric Sachs, the central antagonist of the first Ninja Turtles in 2014.
