Boruto would gain in quality if this cult character from Naruto was better exploited

Boruto would gain in quality if this cult character from Naruto was better exploited

Masashi Kishimoto finished Naruto in 2014, but the story continued with Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. The manga, drawn by Mikio Ikemoto and written by Ukyo Kodashi, had its ups and downs until the original mangaka took up the pen in chapter 52. Currently, the series is on the rise with the second part, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. However, many have noticed the absence of certain characters, including a very important one from Naruto, whose return could greatly enrich the sequel.

Boruto: The Decline of the Old Generation

With Boruto, the goal was to highlight the new generation. Nothing really new, since the passing of the baton was already one of the major themes of the original work. However, this sequel did it in a rather peculiar way. Indeed, several characters from Naruto were distorted, or only had a minor role despite their potential. We're thinking in particular of Yamato, reduced to monitoring Orochimaru's laboratory, another character who, in the manga, doesn't do much either, except be linked to Mitsuki. That said, they at least have the merit of being present unlike others.

The transition from Naruto to Boruto was fatal for some characters. This is the case, for example, of Chôza Akimichi, Choji's father and the only survivor of the Ino-Chika-Shô trio, or Ebisu. Although they could have contributed something to the story, it must be admitted that they did not have a big role in Naruto. This is the complete opposite of Kakashi who, although present in the anime, is completely absent from the manga. His return in Two Blue Vortex would not only be legitimate, but also highly appreciated.

Boruto must highlight Kakashi

The time ellipse between Naruto Next Generation and Two Blue Vortex brought about many changes in the universe of Boruto. These changes are positive, but could be even better if the manga brought Kakashi back. As a reminder, he is a major character in Naruto, former master of Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura, and Sixth Hokage. His reputation is therefore well established. However, although he appears in the Boruto anime, Kakashi has never been shown in the manga.

The reasons for his absence remain rather unclear, as there is no real justification for his absence. Kakashi could have played the role of a mentor for the new generation, as he does for Boruto in the anime, or even intervened in combat, as in the Kawaki arc. Yet, that's not the case, and it's all the more frustrating because he's clearly underutilized in the anime. Perhaps Ikemoto and Kishimoto have a major role in store for him in the future, and Two Blue Vortex will eventually reveal it to us. This sequel, unlike its predecessor, has already brought back some "forgotten" characters, like those of Team 10 or even Kurama, so why not Kakashi? His return would make a lot of noise, would clearly put the manga in the spotlight, and perhaps make Studio Pierrot want to give him a more substantial role in the anime.
