On October 20, 1999 (in Europe), Sony's famous mascot, Crash Bandicoot, made his karting debut on PlayStation with CTR: Crash Team Racing. A game developed by Naughty Dog that had the luxury of standing up to the great Mario Kart 64 on the Nintendo 64. An excellent karting game that, unlike Mario Kart, offered a very nice story mode, numerous original races, a battle mode and even a time trial mode.

Twenty years later, in 2019, Activision and Beenox offered us an excellent remake with CTR: Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. A complete game, allowing you to rediscover the game's story mode, but also the circuits of Crash Nitro Kart released in 2003 on PS2 and Xbox.

Since then, we have not had the right to a release on current consoles. Good news for fans, this port would be coming soon according to a leak on Reddit.

It is indeed on Reddit that an anonymous developer had casually leaked the announcement (the post has since been deleted by the platform's moderators). The user posted a photo of a CTR: Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled Grand Prix Edition logo on the Crash Team Racing community channel, confirming the arrival of a re-release of the game. This re-release is expected in early 2026. The game will (finally) arrive on PC, as well as on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is also planned. This Grand Prix Edition remaster should offer a removal of loading times (which were abominably long). The title will also feature a cross-platform mode, allowing you to play online with players who are not on the same console as you. There is also talk of some new features, including new circuits. To finish with the good news, this compilation would be offered at the price of 39.99 euros.

We now keep our fingers crossed that all this is true with, why not, a few more good surprises.
