Disney and Pixar started a habit a long time ago that has since become a tradition: sprinkling their films with winks to fans, whether meta references (outside the fictional universe) or cult characters and objects. From Mickey, who recently entered the public domain, to A113, discover the Easter eggs that come up most often in our favorite cartoons!
#1 Stitch
Barely a few months after the release of Lilo & Stitch, Disney fans are discovering Treasure Planet: A New Universe in theaters, and a nod to the little blue alien creature is already hiding on screen! In Jim Hawkins' room, you can see a stuffed animal on a shelf to the left of the bed.
In Big Hero 6, in 2014, a photo of Stitch hangs on the wall of Hiro's laboratory.
#2 Aladdin's Flying Carpet
This magical object, which allowed the Prince of Thieves to escape many perilous situations in the 1992 cartoon, has appeared in several other Disney films, including The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, in 1996. In the opening scene with the jugglers, a man crosses the frame with the flying carpet rolled up on his arm (and beside it, you can see Belle, in a blue dress).
In The Princess and the Frog, in 2009, during the scene at the French market in New Orleans, a lady shakes the magic carpet from her balcony.
In Moana, in 2016, the inhabitants of The island is carrying a carpet that, while not having the same colors as Aladdin's, has the same patterns.
#3 Mickey Mouse
Walt Disney's iconic creation can be seen hidden in the fur of a police officer in Zootopia, and later in a baby's stroller as a toy.
Mickey Mouse also appears in the contract that Ursula makes Ariel sign in The Little Mermaid in 1989, then accompanied by Goofy and Donald in the crowd gathered near King Triton.
He can be seen in Aladdin, during the market scene and in the scene with the Sultan.
In Dumbo (1941), during the little elephant's bathing scene,
Once again in the bubbles ofSnow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937.
And in the bubbles Cinderella makes while she scrubs her stepmother's mansion!
In Hercules, we can see Mickey's head in the sail the hero uses to get around.
In Bernard and Bianca, during an SOS meeting Company, we can see a red watch nailed to the wall: Mickey Mouse can be seen in the dial.
And another watch! In Oliver & Company, in 1988, another Mickey can be seen in the dial of a watch, this time worn.
Look closely at the fruit in the background of this image taken from Lilo & Stitch...
A warning to eagle eyes: in Frozen there are two tiny Mickeys hidden away, which only the most observant among you will have noticed. One is on the shelves of a library in Arendelle Castle, the other is partially hidden in Oaken's bazaar and sauna.
#4 The A113 code
This mysterious animated film code refers to the number of the classroom used by animation students at the California Institute of the Arts, where several Pixar directors studied before becoming famous. The vast majority of studio works make a nod to this code: in Toy Story 1,Toy Story 2andToy Story 3, it is the license plate of Andy's mother's car, and inToy Story 4 on a license plate belonging to Bonnie.
He also appears on the surveillance camera of Incrediblesthen in The Incredibles 2, on a cinema poster.
In Finding Nemo, you can see this acronym on a diver's camera (it's written in small print, get closer to the screen!).
All the films in the Cars trilogy also have fun placing an A113 for the audience: on the front of a train in the first film, on the side of the spy jet in the second, on the back of a truck in the third.
In Ratatouille, we can see a pretty massive rat with a tag on its ear that says A113 (probably a former laboratory guinea pig).
In Up, you can see it inscribed on a bronze plaque while Carl waits.
In Inside Out, you can see it as graffiti behind Riley.
In Monsters & Co.,you can see it written on one of the pillars in the factory.
#5 The Pizza Planet Truck
This truck, which first appeared in the first Toy Story (and subsequently in all the other films in the franchise), is a delivery pickup truck that takes orders from the pizza chain of the same name, and it appears in multiple Pixar films. After serving as a vehicle for Woody and Buzz Lightyear, it can be seen in A Bug's Life, right next to the caravan, when Tilt goes to town.
In Monsters & Co., it can be seen in the background when Leon is released into the human world.
In Finding Nemo, it is part of the background of Gil's plan to escape.
In Onward, it appears during Ian and Barley's journey; you can see the truck to the right of the toll booth.
In Soul, inside the room where there are objects that help souls discover what they love, the famous pizza truck is on the left.
In Coco, you can see the truck whizzing by at the beginning of the film.
In Cars, the Pizza Planet truck can be seen in each of the films: first during the Piston Cup Race in Cars 1, then twice in Cars 2, on the television screen above the bar and then among the spectators during the Grand Prix at Radiator Springs. In Cars 3, during the demolition derby, we can see him take a hit.
In Up, the pizza truck appears three times: when Carl flies his house across town for the first time, when Russell gets out of the house to scan the town, and then at the end of the film, when Carl and Russell are eating ice cream in front of Fenton's ice cream parlor.
