This is an initiative that promises to please die-hard TV viewers. In an effort to enhance its Freebox TV offering, Xavier Niel's company is giving all subscribers access to seven new streaming channels with varied content at no extra cost.
Seven new free channels at Free
The arrival of these seven new channels, mainly from the BFM TV and RMC universes, marks a turning point for Freebox TV. Since this week, it has been possible to enjoy the following channels:
- BFM TV Grands Reportages (channel 162): a dive into the world of reporting and investigation, with a selection of documentaries and investigations. The channel aims to offer a comprehensive overview of international news, news stories, profiles and exclusive immersions.
- RMC Talk Info (channel 169): dedicated to debates and talk shows, it includes flagship programs from RMC radio, such as Les Grandes Gueules and Estelle Midi. Viewers can continuously follow the major discussions that fuel public debate on social and political issues.
- RMC WOW (channel 222): for thrill-seekers, RMC WOW broadcasts documentaries on extreme phenomena, human or technological exploits, and extraordinary events.
- RMC Mystère (channel 223): this channel explores the great enigmas and mysteries of our world through investigations and documentaries, ranging from vanished civilizations to unexplained phenomena and urban legends.
- RMC Alerte Secours (channel 224): immersion in the heart of the action of the emergency services, the channel follows firefighters, police officers, doctors and other emergency professionals.
- RMC Mecanic (channel 233): designed for car enthusiasts and mechanics, it offers programs on competitions, the restoration of vintage vehicles, and cult shows like Top Gear France or Vintage Mecanic.
- J’Irai Dormir Chez Vous TV (channel 255): an invitation to escape with Antoine de Maximy, this channel continuously broadcasts the globetrotter’s journeys around the world, to discover cultures, encounters and unique adventures.
A very FAST strategy
The integration of these channels is part of the FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television) movement, a hybrid model between SVOD and linear television, which is attracting more and more media players in France. Altice Media, parent company of BFM TV and RMC, has also announced the launch of eight new FAST channels, including those now available on Freebox TV.
How can I enjoy these new channels?
Currently, these channels are initially available on the Freebox Pop, but their deployment is imminent across all Freeboxes and via the Oqee application. To enjoy them, a simple restart of the Freebox Player may be necessary, an operation that can be carried out in a few seconds via the System settings menu or by unplugging and then reconnecting the power supply.
With this new offer, Free is making a smart bet. It confirms its desire to offer an ever richer, more accessible television experience adapted to new uses. The operator is relying on the diversity of themes to retain its subscribers and attract new audiences, while riding the wave of free streaming financed by advertising.
