The launch of a new high-end smartphone like Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra is always a closely watched event. Finishes and aesthetics are crucial aspects for users, who expect excellence from these devices.

The smartphone market is constantly evolving, with manufacturers competing in ingenuity to offer ever more sophisticated designs. Aesthetic details, such as the integration of camera modules, play a major role in the visual appeal of devices. Particular attention is paid to these elements, often highlighted as distinctive stylistic signatures.

Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra follows this approach with a renewed design of the rings of its rear camera unit. These thicker and textured elements are clearly distinguished from the previous generation, such as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This new design gives the phone a premium look. It represents a striking visual change, designed to differentiate the model and strengthen its identity.

The rings around the Galaxy S25 Ultra's camera module sensors detach on their own

However, it seems that this aesthetic novelty hides a potential flaw. Shortly after the phones' launch, it was observed that the camera rings on the Galaxy S25 Ultra were actually overlapping a similar set of rings to those on the Galaxy S24. It is speculated that Samsung glued the latter rings onto the older ones, and this attachment may not be optimal. There have been reports that they can detach. This raises questions about the assembly quality of this part of the phone.

One user out of X reported a camera ring falling off their Galaxy S25 Ultra. This detachment occurred without any apparent physical damage to the device. With a starting price of €1,469, such fragility is surprising. Spare parts for these are not readily available at service centers, requiring an order and a fair amount of waiting. It's worth noting that this issue seems isolated at this point; feedback on platforms like Reddit doesn't yet indicate widespread spread of the issue. I now own a Galaxy Ring, a Samsung S25U camera ring. Great job, Samsung! Where is the ring glue on this IP68 device? Didn't even last 3 months! @UniverseIce @tarunvats33 pic.twitter.com/SYhEvAGy9g
