While Ghost of Yotei is coming on October 2, 2025, exclusively to PS5, the latest State of Play only offered a brief appearance from the highly anticipated sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. This allowed us to learn that Sucker Punch's next title will finally get a lengthy gameplay presentation in July. In the meantime, the ESRB has assigned it a classification, which allows us to discover that a feature from the previous installment will be making a return, appropriately.
Return to the roots for Ghost of Yotei
As a reminder, Ghost of Yotei will take the form of an "anthology" sequel to Tsushima. Sucker Punch will indeed take us back to its vision of feudal Japan, but in a different era, and with a different character. So here we have the young woman Atsu replacing Jin Sakai, 300 years after the events of the first opus, and in the Hokkaido region. Despite everything, we will naturally find in this sequel some elements of her big brother. In terms of gameplay, for example, we should find an alternation between pitched battles and infiltration.
Like Jin, Atsu will not miss out on opportunities to relax in her quest for revenge. In this regard, Ghost of Yotei has been classified by the American organization ESRB. Naturally, it gives it the letter M for "Mature", due to the presence of "blood, drug references, violence, language, partial nudity and use of alcohol". We learn via the organization's description that Ghost of Yotei will notably bring back the sequences in the hot springs of Tsushima.
Besides franchise-specific elements like duels and gory assassinations, the ESRB also describes the following element to expect in Sucker Punch's next game: "Cutscenes depict a female character's exposed posterior in a hot spring." So Atsu should also indulge in a little meditation while working up a good sweat to ward off evil spirits. We can bet that the Ghost of Yotei gameplay presentation in July will show us more about this highly anticipated sequel.
