Tom Felton says the controversy surrounding J.K. Rowling's political views doesn't impact him: "I'm not really that attuned to it...I have not seen anything bring the world together more than Potter. She's responsible for that, so I'm incredibly grateful." #TonyAwards pic.twitter.com/T7KSMNbFds

Tom Felton, following in the footsteps of Warwick Davis, gave a detached opinion on the controversies surrounding J.K. Rowling. The actor simply expressed his gratitude to the author and her creation, Harry Potter, which not only changed his life but also the lives of millions of readers and fans around the world. Speaking to Variety, the actor who plays Draco Malfoy was as courteous as he was unaware of the controversies surrounding the novelist. I'm not really into that... I haven't seen anything that has brought people together as much as Potter. It's thanks to her, and I'm extremely grateful to her.

A cautious statement, which allows the actor to avoid taking a position in the debate.

Recently,J.K. Rowling seems to have fewer detractors than before. Last April, the British Supreme Court excluded trans women from the legal definition of the term "woman," ruling in favor of the writer, who is campaigning for the legal definition of a woman to be based on biology. And on social media, Internet users' comments about the novelist are less virulent than in past months and years. Her supporters are now as numerous, if not more numerous, than her opponents. This movement also seems to be on the rise among actors, who, without displaying overly explicit support for J.K. Rowling, prefer to remain neutral regarding the debate surrounding her. Others, like Pedro Pascal, nevertheless remain fiercely hostile to the novelist.
