Pokemon: The studio announces a new game that will surprise everyone

The great thing about summer conferences is that we're never safe from unexpected surprises. As proof, while Nintendo, no doubt already very busy with the launch of its Nintendo Switch 2, didn't want to take part in last week's festivities, that didn't stop a studio very close to the company from making an appearance: Game Freak. And no, the latter wasn't talking about Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but rather announcing a new license called Beast of Reincarnation.

The creators of Pokemon announce a new game

Unveiled yesterday at the Xbox Games Showcase, the title will take the form of an action-RPG set in a post-apocalyptic Japan populated by monsters. In Beast of Reincarnation, we will play as Emma, a young woman condemned to lead a life of outcast, whose goal will apparently be to ensure the salvation of humanity. A difficult task that will require, among other things, traveling through desolate lands while surviving battles described as "technical and demanding". Did you say Souls-like?

While few details have been revealed by Game Freak so far, we do know that Emma will be able to count on the presence of her canine best friend, Koo, to experience this adventure by her side. And according to the first information shared, his role could not be more important in the experience. "The deeper Emma and Koo delve into this strange and unfamiliar environment, the stronger their bond will become, with the emergence of curious powers," reads the description of Beast of Reincarnation.

Beast of Reincarnation, coming in 2026

Of course, it's hard not to mention the quality of the game's artistic direction, which is a radical departure from what Game Freak has accustomed us to. And while the trailer seems, for now, to reveal the presence of a frame rate as stable as that of a Pokemon on Switch, Beast of Reincarnation should nevertheless have the merit of dazzling us unlike the latter. The answer will be in 2026, when the game will be released on PS5, Xbox Series and PC. Note that the title will also arrive on the day of its release in the Xbox Game Pass.
