Millions of fans wanted to believe it until the end, but Hollow Knight Silksong missed Summer Game Fest 2025. One of the most anticipated indie games for a (very) long time now, missed the main conference and didn't deign to show up elsewhere either. With no announcement, let alone a shadow drop, during the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, the title remained almost silent. After the database and Steam page were updated, notably to show the platforms, the German PlayStation Store modified the listing to indicate "very soon" for the release date.
Hollow Knight Silksong continues to move
Hollow Knight Silksong should indeed stick to its 2025 release. After many delays, and despite an almost total absence from Summer Game Fest, the studio has communicated very discreetly. The Team Cherry team actually preferred a message on the Discord server to a message on X for all to see. In this post, the company confirmed a launch in 2025... before the holiday season! If the studio wasn't sure of its move, it might have avoided being so categorical, so the signal sent is strong. However, be careful, because a last-minute problem is always possible.
After the cold shower of its absence from Summer Game Fest 2025, Hollow Knight Silksong is officially giving news again. If you visit the game's website, you may notice a new block added by Team Cherry to show the platforms where the game will be available. Namely PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, as well as PC (Steam, Humble Store, GOG).
Furthermore, the studio reminds those concerned that this sequel will be playable for free on one condition: having an active subscription to Xbox Game Pass. It will be one of the next games to join the catalog of Microsoft's service in 2025. So, certainly, this update to the Hollow Knight Silksong site is not a major fact, but put together, it helps reassure players that the game will arrive by the end of the year.
