iOS 26 includes an option that increases your iPhone's battery life. However, it's not enabled by default. Here's what it does exactly and, of course, where to find it.
No matter how powerful our smartphone is, it shares one thing in common with the most humble of models, even those before the first iPhone. At some point, you have to plug it in to charge it. For almost 20 years now, we've been used to doing this every day, or every other day depending on usage. Manufacturers have been trying to break through this symbolic barrier for a long time, but it's clear that the few phones that offer long battery life are doing so at the expense of the rest.
Most of the time, it's the operating system that tries to give us a little respite. On Android, for example, there's the Adaptive Battery option, which "uses your phone's usage data to constantly optimize battery usage by apps." And what about iOS? Apple recently announced iOS 26, the next software update for iPhones that aims to revolutionize their interface. But if you dig a little deeper, you'll find a new feature dedicated to the device's battery life.
Enable this iOS 26 option to make your iPhone last longer
On Reddit, a user who installed the iOS 26 beta discovered the existence of Adaptive Power in Settings > Battery > Power Mode. It's described as follows: "When your battery consumption is higher than usual, iPhone can make small performance adjustments to extend your battery life, such as slightly reducing the screen brightness or allowing certain activities to take a little longer."
The similarities to Android's Adaptive Battery won't have escaped your attention. We can therefore expect that the "activities" that will take longer include receiving notifications. According to early reports, it seems that the feature uses Apple Intelligence. This means that only AI-compatible iPhones will see it. Users are saying that it's not present on the iPhone 13 Pro or 14 Pro. We'll know more when iOS 26 is released in stable form in September or October.
