The new trailer for Ironheart once again made plenty of references to the Iron Man saga. At the same time, the new superheroine proudly carries Tony Stark's legacy into the MCU.
New trailer for Ironheart
Despite Tony Stark's disappearance at the end of Avengers: Endgame, his shadow still looms over the Marvel Universe. Robert Downey Jr. returns in Avengers: Doomsday hidden under the Doctor Doom costume - something Marvel will have to justify - and his legacy will be at the heart of the new series Ironheart. Perhaps even a little too much. As if the House of Ideas couldn't do without its iconic figure (a bit like Star Wars with the legacy of Luke Skywalker) to offer innovative stories and capture the audience of fans.
And this was felt even more strongly with the release of the latest trailer for this new series dedicated to Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) broadcast on Disney + on June 24, 2025. After his time in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ironheart will this time have his own solo adventure and twirl around in his brand-new armor. The recent trailer confirms that Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos), aka The Hood, will be his main threat.
3 Big Iron Man References Seen in the Trailer
How can we not see the references and nods to Tony Stark/Iron Man in this second trailer? The Forge sound so characteristic of the first Iron Man that encompasses this trailer and accompanies each of Riri Williams' actions: close-ups of the hammer, the welding and the metal parts.
Also, the opposition between Ironheart and Parker Robbins seems reminiscent of that between Tony Stark and Obadiah Stane. While Marvel never confirmed that the latter would act as a mentor, the first trailer suggests that he would first be an ally or a guide before becoming the big villain of the series. It remains to be seen what Marvel has cooked up for us on this side.
But the big reference remains this huge nod to the relationship between Tony Stark and JARVIS (or Friday). At the very end of the video, Riri is sitting in front of her computer, visibly asleep, contact lenses on her temples. It is then that she is awakened by an AI taking the form of a hologram, presenting itself as her greatest creation.
We then understand that artificial intelligence will help Ironheart in her task to boost her abilities and measure up to Parker Robbins. The dialogue scenes between Iron Man and JARVIS being among the very best elements of the trilogy, it seems logical that Marvel would want to recreate the magic while assuming its fan service to the boss of the Avengers.
