It was inevitable: there will be a film about ChatGPT and its charismatic boss (and we already know the story)

ChatGPT, OpenAI, and the company's CEO Sam Altman will be at the center of a film coming to theaters soon. The story itself will focus on a particularly difficult period in late 2023. Here's what we know about the project.

It was inevitable: there will be a film about ChatGPT and its charismatic boss (and we already know the story)

Amazon MGM is currently wrapping up a film project about Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, which publishes ChatGPT. Several actors' names are circulating for the casting. Sam Altman himself could be played by Nicholas Braun, who recently played the character of Greg in HBO's Succession.

More hypothetically, Will Arnett could take on the role of Ilya Sutskever, a senior administrator at the firm. The actor is known for his role in the series Arrested Development. Other big names could also be involved, although all of this should be taken with a grain of salt at this stage of the project. For example, Matt Damon in the role of Greg Brockman.

What will the film's story be about Sam Altman?

Or Nasim Pedrad in the role of Mira Murati, the company's CTO. Once again, nothing has been confirmed regarding the casting, and these names should therefore be taken as mere hypotheses. However, one thing is more certain: the story that will be at the heart of the film. Indeed, towards the end of 2023, OpenAI's board of directors made a sudden decision, completely unexpected from the outside.

While the firm led by Sam Altman was scoring points and succeeding in attracting more and more capital, the board members rather abruptly ousted its boss. The beginning of a rather breathless saga that would end a few days later with a huge push from Microsoft – which invested massively in the company, getting its hands on some of its technologies in the process.

This would allow it to offer even more AI in the Bing and Windows 11 ecosystem. The leader was then reinstated in his duties, with even more influence within OpenAI. It's not yet known when filming will begin, or even the theatrical release schedule, but according to this information revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, we'll definitely know more very soon.
