Series come and go in Weekly Shonen Jump, a magazine that never lacks success. Kaiju No. 8 is one of them, however, fans of the manga learned terrible news while reading the latest chapter of the manga.
Weekly Shonen Jump: Big Recent Losses
Weekly Shonen Jump is the most famous pre-publication magazine. In print format, it can now count on sure values like One Piece, manga with solid popularity like Sakamoto Days and on upcoming successes like Ichi the Witch. The magazine has also established itself in the digital world with its Shonen Jump+ platform (known in France as Manga Plus), which offers new works. However, it must be recognized that the magazine is currently going through a period of uncertainty.
Shonen Jump is a rather cruel magazine, because each week, manga chapters are ranked by readers. Repeated poor rankings can lead to the cancellation of a series. This is the case for two recent manga that were deleted. This system can create real phenomena, but also pull the rug out from under masterpieces. The problem today is that the magazine lacks big titles. After the end of Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia last year, this manga is no longer available, not to mention One Piece, which was able to mobilize crowds, especially in the West. Unfortunately, Shonen Jump will soon lose another big series with the end of Kaiju No. 8.
After five years, Kaiju No. 8 will soon come to an end
Kaiju No. 8 has been pre-published since 2020 on Shonen Jump+. It is one of the most popular works on the platform, and beyond. We all remember Kazé's crazy promotion, which had dreamed big for the release of the manga in France with a huge poster at the BNF. Despite this, the manga surprised fans in chapter 127 with the announcement of its upcoming end.
While readers were hooked on the confrontation between Kafka and Daikaiju, they were taken aback to learn at the end of their reading that there were only two chapters left before the conclusion. Kaiju No. 8 is therefore expected to end on July 3rd. Fans generally took this news poorly, finding it too hasty given the manga's unsolved mysteries, such as the origin of the Kaijus. They will, however, be able to console themselves with the return of the anime, scheduled for July 19th.
