After a surprise State of Play the day before yesterday, it's time to get ready for what will undoubtedly be one of the biggest conferences of the summer: Summer Game Fest. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, this will be an opportunity for many publishers to make new announcements, alongside highly anticipated updates on already announced projects. Unfortunately, if you're one of those hoping to find Kingdom Hearts 4 there... you're likely to be disappointed.
No Kingdom Hearts 4 at Summer Game Fest?
Indeed, in a video published two days ago on his YouTube channel, Nate the Hate made a few predictions about the upcoming conferences. And apparently, the generally well-informed insider doesn't seem to really believe in the presence of Kingdom Hearts 4 at tonight's Summer Game Fest. He also confirms this in the comments under his video, where he replies "Square Enix has an announcement [to make] but it's not Kingdom Hearts 4" to a user asking if there's a chance the game will be there.
If the information is true, it could be a big disappointment for fans of the franchise, who have been waiting three years to see the Japanese publisher relaunch communication around the title. And it would be even more disappointing since Kingdom Hearts 4 was recently given new images, which naturally fueled hopes among players that it would make an appearance at Summer Game Fest. Not to mention that development seems to be progressing well, according to certain clues.
Time to cross your fingers
Of course, at this stage, all of this remains pure speculation. While Nate the Hate has often proven the reliability of his statements in the past, he has also very recently shown that he could be wrong. Therefore, as always in this kind of situation, it is important to take a step back. So, will Kingdom Hearts 4 finally make a surprise appearance at tonight's Summer Game Fest, or will fans once again be left empty-handed? We'll find out in a few hours.
