Saint Seiya is a legendary anime that has captivated many viewers. The armor worn by the characters plays a major role in this. In the manga, Masami Kurumada created some remarkable designs, making it difficult to compile a list of the best armor. This is what we tried to do by presenting our ten favorite armors from the anime, while trying to vary the pleasures.
#1 The Dragon Armor V1
The anime made several changes compared to the manga. We would have preferred the adaptation to retain certain aspects of the source material, such as the designs of the first bronze armors, but we admit to having a soft spot for the Dragon armor. It's the one that stands out the most from the others, along with Andromeda's. Its emerald green color captures attention, and its large claws on its shoulder pads completely fascinate us. This is the cloth of the main bronzes that goes the furthest in its attempt to reproduce the characteristics of its sign. Maybe it's a little crude, but it really works very well.
#2 Aquarius Armor
Each gold armor is splendid, but Aquarius's a little more than the others. It is very elegant, especially thanks to its diadem and shoulder pads. With such a unique sign, Kurumada has achieved a feat in transcribing it while offering a sublime design.
#3 The Pisces Armor
Aphrodite didn't shine much in Saint Seiya, but her cloth has remained in the memory. It is one of the most unique armors of the Sanctuary. The fins at the ends add personality to the armor, as do the shoulder pads. It's a design that would have been ideal for a Marina Scale, a caste that has lacked originality on this side.
#4 Odin's Robe
The Asgard arc is one of the best in Saint Seiya. It featured a tragic confrontation against the Divine Warriors that left a lasting impression on many fans. Regarding their Divine Robes, they are quite basic, which is not at all the case with Odin's Robe. It is unique in its kind with its angular features, as if it had been fashioned from the ice of Niflheim. The added touch is the sword, which adds a heroic and warrior-like dimension to the most beautiful effect.
#5 Scylla's Scale
In the anime, the Marinas had the difficult task of following the Divine Warriors. The problem is that they turned out to be lesser copies of the Golden Saints, especially for their Scales. However, Scylla's is different. Since each part symbolizes a creature that makes up the sea monster, the Scale becomes atypical. We would have liked this to be the case for the others as well.
#6 The Gemini Surplice
The Gemini golden armor is basically a jewel, but we prefer to mention its "dark" version here.This aggressive version of the cloth fits perfectly with the duality of the sign. It's all the more powerful symbolically speaking because by wearing it, Saga does good, whereas previously, adorned with his golden armor, he did evil.
#7 The armors of Hypnos and Thanatos
With Elysion, Saint Seiya goes to a whole new level. This is something that Hypnos and Thanatos' armors quickly make us notice. They are majestic and incredibly beautiful. The versions that include tunics even add a much-appreciated divine touch.
#8 The Andromeda God Cloth
The God Cloths, in general, are all impressive. However, if we had to choose just one, we would opt for the Andromeda one. It enhances a design that was already, at its core, exquisite. In addition, gold and pink go extremely well together.
#9 The Glories of the Tenkai Hen Overture
As the Saint Seiya series progresses, the armors become more imposing. The Tenkai Hen Overture challenged this notion by giving the angels Glorys with relatively little clothing. This is precisely where the strength of these armors lies. They exude a lightness and presence that gives the impression that they come from the heavens. The toga helps us form this idea.
#10 The Golden Armor of Ophiuchus
Over the years, one might have thought that Kurumada had exhausted all his imagination in terms of armor design. He proved us wrong with the golden armor of Ophiuchus, the most impressive cloth of the caste. It's true that there isn't a Saint Seiya Next Dimension anime yet, but we had to mention it given the work done by the mangaka.
