Marvel Comics has just teased the 250th issue of Venom. For the occasion, La Maison des Idées is preparing to bring back one of the symbiote's most famous antagonists.
The Return of Venom
Written by Al Ewing, the 250th episode of Venom is about to hit newsstands this October. Illustrated by artist Terry Dodson, Venom 250 Dollars will be the start of a whole new saga for the symbiote. The famous former enemy of Spider-Man will have his work cut out for him as he crosses paths again with an antagonist well-known to comic book readers: the terrible Knull.
Created in 2018, Knull quickly became one of Venom's worst enemies. Knull is the God of the symbiotes. He is the one who gave birth to Venom and his cronies. Knull is a Primordial God who emerged from the void that existed before the creation of the universe.
He reacted with hostility to the creation of the universe, seeing it as an intrusion into his realm of darkness. After being sealed away in his own realm, Knull found another way to exact revenge by creating a parasitic life form capable of binding and controlling other beings: symbiotes.
Since then, he has occasionally come to Earth to try to take over our beautiful blue planet. He was notably featured in Venom: The Last Dance, but it's hard to know what Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have in store for this character in the future. It's rumored that the antagonist could appear in Spider-Man 4, but nothing concrete yet.
Venom $250
Venom $250 will thus bring Knull back into the spotlight. The latter will seek revenge on Venom, who is currently linked to Mary Jane Watson. Yes, you read that right, Mary Jane Watson is currently the host of the terrible Venom. Thanks to the beneficial influence of the beautiful redhead, Venom has become a true hero. As they clean up the streets of New York, Mary Jane senses that Venom still has a dark side. Some time ago, Eddie Brock killed Knull. But the latter seems to rise from the ashes and will seek revenge on the famous symbiote.
During a recent interview relayed by ComicBookMovie.com, Al Ewing returned to the importance of a character like Knull, and did not hide his enthusiasm for this iconic character:
When Donny and Ryan introduced Knull, they created the first major villain in a long time. He is powerful enough to lead to a crossover. We left him aside for a bit, he went to rest, but now he's back. We want to revive the elements that readers loved about him. The final ingredient of a good villain is that he may be at his lowest, but he's never truly defeated.
