Whether it's Reed Richards, Dr. Doom, or Bruce Banner, the Marvel Universe is full of characters, each one smarter than the last. This inspired us to create the most objective ranking possible of the various intellectual figures in the Marvel Universe. So here are the 12 smartest characters in the Marvel Universe.
12) M.O.D.O.K.
Often nicknamed "the brain on legs" or "the living head", M.O.D.O.K. is a genius. Unfortunately, often misunderstood by his peers and superiors, he fell into a form of depression, which forced him to become a supervillain. Megalomaniac, psychologically unstable, egocentric, overconfident, so many flaws that hinder his intellectual development. Built by A.I.M. to be a weapon, he is above all an absolute genius in calculation and statistics.
11) Black Panther
In addition to being an outstanding warrior, T’Challa is also a brilliant mind. Ruler of Wakanda, he participated in the many technological advances of this fictional African country. A member of the Illuminati, he is one of those extremely intelligent characters who makes decisions in the shadows.
10) Peter Parker
Clever, cultured, and clever, Peter Parker is also an extremely gifted scientist. We tend to forget this, but Parker can get out of many situations just by the power of his mind. While he is not considered one of the greatest minds in the Marvel Universe, Peter Parker is truly a scientific genius. Just in his Spider-Man costume, Peter invented everything: his webs, his launchers, his glasses, everything! In the comics, he even becomes the director of his own company: Parker Industries. 9) Hank Pym
He is one of the most brilliant minds on the planet. He invented the Pym particles, capable of changing the size of any living or dead object, and he created numerous artificial intelligences, including the terrible Ultron. Hank Pym can do just about anything. And that's the problem. Because sometimes, the line between genius and madness is blurred. Hank Pym is an unbalanced character in the comics, who suffers from depression, anxiety, paranoia, and who was destroyed by the death of his wife: Janet van Dyne. Despite this, Pym's fields of expertise are numerous: cybernetics, biochemistry, entomology, and robotics.
8) Moon Girl
Lunella Lafayette, aka Moon Girl, is a 9-year-old pre-teen genius who teams up with Devil Dinosaur, a huge red T-Rex. A little-known character, she is also one of the smartest members of the House of Ideas. She has been able to solve problems that even brains like Bruce Banner and Tony Stark have failed to solve. Created in 2015, she is the heroine of her own animated series on Disney+.
7) Amadeus Cho
Officially, according to some writers of the House of Ideas, Amadeus Cho is the seventh brain of the Marvel Universe. His brain is often compared to a real computer. He is capable of storing and processing an extremely large amount of information. A tactical genius, a scientific genius, and possessing extraordinary intellectual abilities, Amadeus Cho is capable of learning faster than average. He has even found a way to maintain control of his Hulk using nanotechnology.
We also tend to forget, but Hank McCoy is also one of the most intelligent beings on planet Earth and undeniably the smartest X-Man. He is an inveterate thinker, convinced that science is THE solution. He is in a perpetual search for solutions. Among his accomplishments, he saved the world from a deadly virus called M-Pox.
5) Tony Stark
Billionaire, scientific genius, philanthropist, Tony Stark wears many hats. But one thing is certain: he is extremely intelligent. After all, he was able to build Iron Man's armor, trapped in a cave, with very little means. Stark's remarkable intelligence allows him to do several things at once. He has a wealth of inventions to his credit, he knows technology and weaponry like no one else, and his extreme egocentrism drives him to achieve feats just to prove to himself that he is capable. His greatest ability: being able to anticipate the future and improve it.
4) Bruce Banner
Banner is a fascinating character. When he's the Hulk, he's the strongest in the Marvel Universe. When he's Banner, he's one of the smartest. But he can't be both at the same time. Banner is a brilliant scientific mind. An expert in gamma radiation, psychology, science, and chemistry, he is regularly consulted by his peers because his mind is often out of the ordinary. He is able to see things that others cannot.
3) Dr. Doom
The intellectual rivalry between Victor Von Doom and Reed Richards is not new. But then, who is the smarter of the two? It's hard to say. In any case, Doom is one of the smartest Marvel characters. Fatalis creates his own technology, he invented an entire army of robots in his image, he possesses a political intelligence that makes him sovereign of his own country, he is a strategist, a manipulator. He possesses a quantity of inventions. It is to him that we owe the time machine. He is an expert in the field of magic to push science even further than its own limits. And in some comics like Secret Wars, Doom is downright omniscient…
2) Reed Richards
He's the ultimate genius of the Marvel Universe. Whenever someone has a problem, they turn to Reed. The leader of the Fantastic Four is a genius inventor. He's the most brilliant mind in the House of Ideas. His research pushes him to explore unknown areas, to push the boundaries of reality, between science and the supernatural. Time travel, aerospace engineering, and interdimensional travel are the favorite subjects of Reed Richards, who regularly explores alternate dimensions, other timelines, or new galaxies like the Negative Zone, which he discovered himself.
1) Valeria Richards
The daughter of Reed Richards and Sue Storm is incredibly intelligent. According to her own analysis, she considers herself the smartest human being on the planet. From a very young age, she understood the inventions and theories developed by her father (which is clearly not given to everyone). She has complete mastery in several fields such as theoretical physics, engineering, robotics, programming, etc. She built her own time machine at the age of 3. Even Reed Richards admits that his daughter is smarter than him.
