MindsEye, the GTA-like, was a disaster when it came out

It was supposed to be a big splash. An ambitious showcase for the connected universe of Everywhere, the sprawling project from Build a Rocket Boy. But Mindseye, the very first single-player game on this platform, turned into a nightmare upon its release. Crashes, bugs, shaky optimization... The game is barely playable for many players. And the feedback is unequivocal.

A frigid reception on Steam for MindsEye

On Steam, it's a cold shower. MindsEye barely has 34% positive reviews. In other words: the majority of players are disappointed, even downright angry. And it's not a matter of taste. The reviews all point to the same problems, namely repeated bugs, unexpected crashes, and above all catastrophic optimization.

Even on powerful PCs, the game runs poorly. Framerate drops, textures that don't load, cutscenes that don't start... The experience is painful, and sometimes even blocking. For a title that aims to be narrative and immersive, it breaks the atmosphere a bit.

On PS5, the game sometimes crashes... in the first few minutes

And it's no better on console for MindsEye. On PS5, some players weren't even able to start their game. After a few minutes, the game simply crashes. An error message appears, asking you to send a report to Sony. This is the kind of bug you rarely encounter on console, even less so at the launch of such an anticipated game. On social media, videos showing these crashes are multiplying. And the game's image is taking a serious hit.

Despite this failed launch, all is not yet lost. The game intrigues with its futuristic universe and its narrative ambition. Some players even praise its artistic direction and its atmosphere. But for Mindseye to recover, it will have to react quickly. It is urgent to deploy patches, optimize the engine, and above all... restore confidence. For Build a Rocket Boy, this is a real test. And Everywhere's image could suffer if the studio doesn't take the lead.
