Netflix to stream TF1 to its French users

Netflix to stream TF1 to its French users

This looks like the end of "old-school TV." Starting in the summer of 2026, TF1 group channels and all on-demand content from the TF1+ platform will be able to be viewed directly from Netflix. La Une, which has just officially announced this in a press release, is thus embarking on a shift that would have been unthinkable a few years ago.

Watch TV without leaving Netflix

It's no secret that for several years now, all linear television channels have seen their overall audiences decline. By entering into this distribution partnership with Netflix, TF1 hopes to reverse the trend.

Because by offering its channels and content on the streaming platform, La Première allows Netflix subscribers to "zap" the old-fashioned way. French subscribers will thus be able to watch TV without having to leave the Netflix environment.

In addition to accessing Netflix's usual content, they will be able to watch series and films produced and broadcast on TF1 group channels.

A partnership that suits everyone

This deal between TF1 and Netflix is rather clever. The streaming platform will be able to offer new content "made in TF1," while the channel will benefit from Netflix's recommendation algorithm. A boon for France's leading channel since it will now be able to reach an audience that might not have had the reflex to go to TF1's apps or turn on the family TV to watch them.

One thing is certain: by entering into this unprecedented partnership, TF1 risks being quickly followed by competing channels. Canal +, which was recently kicked off DTT, could, for example, consider a similar deal to counteract its loss of audience... on another platform?
