Nintendo Direct: A bit of a cold shower if you were expecting big announcements soon

Nintendo Direct: A bit of a cold shower if you were expecting big announcements soon

Just a week ago on Gameblog, we were able to mention the arrival of a Nintendo Direct on the horizon. This is what Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe had stated at the time, during a live broadcast organized on his channel. But as we know, plans can change, and that's clearly what just happened. Obviously, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt, as usual.

The Nintendo Direct finally not for right away?

The Nintendo Switch 2 is coming in a few days, so obviously, everyone is expecting a Nintendo Direct during the Summer Game Fest to discover new announcements, especially regarding games. Will we have to be patient? On Famiboards, PH Brazil (the famous journalist Lutti Lippe) published a message in which he distances himself from the world of leaks. He admits to having "casually" mentioned an upcoming Nintendo Direct during a stream, and now regrets the turn it took. He claims to no longer believe in an imminent Direct, despite persistent information from his own sources. This about-face coincides with the recent statements of Nate the Hate, another respected figure in the industry, who indicated "he had not heard anything" about a Direct in the immediate future.

For his part, Nate the Hate explained in a video that he had received no concrete information about a Nintendo Direct in the short term. This doesn't mean that an event is ruled out, but that he himself hasn't heard anything from his usual sources yet. On Reddit, many point out that Nate never claimed to have full knowledge of Nintendo's plans, only a network that has proven reliable in the past. The lack of information is therefore interpreted as a negative signal... but not as a certainty.

Several announcements that players want

If Nintendo does organize a Direct in the coming weeks, it will be the perfect opportunity to revisit Mario Kart World, the big launch title for the Switch 2, but also to highlight upcoming games like Donkey Kong Bananza, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends Z-A. We can also expect announcements regarding additional content for certain existing titles, such as Mario Party Superstars or Kirby and the Forgotten World. Not to mention, of course, ports and new releases for third-party games. In short, Nintendo would have more than enough to fill a Direct worthy of the name.
