Nintendo Summer Direct Announced, But Only for One Game

Nintendo Summer Direct Announced, But Only for One Game

The next Nintendo Direct has just been made official, but it's not what we expected. A few weeks after the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, everyone was expecting a presentation of the video game program coming to the console in the coming months: but that's not the case. The Kyoto-based company seems determined to shake up its communication habits. After revealing a surprise Splatoon spin-off directly from its mobile app, Nintendo has now decided to organize a Direct dedicated to a single game. Expected for next month, the famous Donkey Kong Bananza is offering its own live presentation to prepare for its imminent launch.

The news was shared as a temporary exclusive on Nintendo Today before being relayed on traditional social networks, proving once again the importance the manufacturer places on its new in-house service. The Donkey Kong Bananza Direct will take place this Wednesday, June 18 at 3 p.m. (French time) and offers us 15 minutes of unreleased clips. As usual, the live stream will be available directly on Nintendo's official YouTube channel, but will also be accessible from the Nintendo Today app. Will this presentation dare to reveal the platformer's latest secrets?

Nintendo Summer Direct Announced, But Only for One Game

A cover change a few weeks before release?

This Nintendo Direct would be an opportunity for the developers to revisit a massive leak that occurred last April. Following the announcement of Donkey Kong Bananza during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the manufacturer's official Korean website briefly displayed a visual that was very different from the one used for the game's cover in the rest of the world. Instead of the small purple rock that accompanies DK in all the clips released so far, we discovered a rejuvenated Pauline, enough to imagine Bananza as an "origin story" between the two iconic characters. Was the "secret" kept in order to change the visuals and make an impression a few weeks before the release? Or does Nintendo intend to ignore this leak until the game's launch to let players discover the twist with the controller in hand? See you in two days to find out for sure. As a reminder, Donkey Kong Bananza will be Nintendo's second Switch 2 exclusive and will be available on the new console from July 17.
