Nintendo Switch 2: Huge Surprise Game Announced Just in Time for Release

Today is a day to remember for the video game industry. After eight years of loyal service, the time has come for the Nintendo Switch to make way for its successor, the Nintendo Switch 2, which is already slowly starting to make its way into many homes around the world. And it will continue to surprise us right up until the end. Because while we thought we knew the list of all the games supposed to receive an upgrade at launch, another title finally invited itself to the party: No Man’s Sky.

A free upgrade for No Man’s Sky

Indeed, after having experienced a rather chaotic start, the title developed by Hello Games has undertaken a long but surprising journey on the road to redemption, which has now allowed it to regain favor in the eyes of players. And the studio, determined to maintain this relationship of trust with its audience, never misses an opportunity to please them. He proves it to us once again by announcing, without warning, a completely free upgrade for No Man’s Sky on Nintendo Switch 2.

“It’s always very exciting to get your hands on a new platform,” said Sean Murray, founder of Hello Games, revealing that the team has been secretly preparing this update since last year. “With the original Switch, we were at the limit of what was possible. No Man’s Sky on Switch 2 is a huge step forward,” he then specifies, before going into more detail on the many contributions of this upgrade which comes with the update called “Beacon”.

The contributions of the Switch 2 version

Naturally, this begins with a large improvement in the visual performance of the title, which reaches a density and a level of detail unpublished on the Nintendo console. In handheld mode, No Man’s Sky now reaches a resolution of 1080p at 40 fps, in addition to supporting VRR, DLSS and DRS. In docked mode, this goes up to a resolution of 1440p at 30 fps, with the presence of DLSS and DRS. Note that in both cases, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game includes completely reworked textures in 4K.

But that’s not all. Thanks to the “Beacon” update, it is now possible to travel through immense robot cities, improve your colonies and discover the story behind each inhabitant. Likewise, for the very first time, No Man’s Sky brings full multiplayer support to Nintendo Switch 2, knowing that cross-play and cross-save functions are also available. And because it's better to say it twice than once, we remind you that this upgrade, available today, is completely free!

Finally, note that until June 16, Hello Games is offering No Man's Sky at €19.99, which is a nice 60% discount compared to its original price. For those who were still hesitating, now is the time to treat yourself.
