While Dragon Ball has seen adaptations and successes come thick and fast, the situation seems a little more delicate when it comes to One Piece. As proof, it's been two years since Luffy's latest video game adventures were released with One Piece Odyssey, a turn-based RPG whose success proved somewhat timid. In recent days, the prospect of a new game has nevertheless emerged among fans following the appearance of a mysterious teaser. But we'd like to warn you: the result may disappoint you...
A new One Piece game has been made official, but...
Indeed, on the occasion of the opening of the official One Piece Day '25 website, many Internet users noticed the presence of a "Game" section. Very stingy with information, it simply stated "Coming soon", a mention that many interpreted as confirmation that a big announcement could be on the way. But it turns out that this is not really the case since the section in question, now updated, actually reveals that it will be nothing more than a simple card game.
"We are organizing a Bounty Rush 'Consecutive Wins Challenge Battle' and a One Piece Card Game Corner!" the page now reads. Did the event organizers sense the controversy coming to the point of wanting to gauge fans' expectations before things got too big? At this point, it doesn't seem impossible. But whatever the case, it seems like we shouldn't expect much more from the event, which will be held on August 9th and 10th at Tokyo Big Sight.
Pirate Warriors 4 sur le chemin de retour
Fortunately, One Piece fans shouldn't be left completely empty-handed this year. Let's remember that Bandai Namco confirmed last February that a PS5 and Xbox Series version of One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 was in the works, and that it would be free for all owners of the game. It has also been confirmed that this will be accompanied by a series of additional DLC, over which players will have the power to decide who will be the next characters to join the roster. That's already better than nothing, we would say.
