Released at the end of 2022, Pokemon Scarlet & Purple brought the franchise into its ninth generation with a fair amount of losses and crashes. Indeed, while many fans agreed to praise the quality of the adventure as a whole, the disastrous technical state in which the game was released at the time did not fail to cause controversy. However, this did not prevent it from meeting with phenomenal success with the public, a success that the Japanese company intends to extend as much as possible on Nintendo Switch 2.
The Switch 2 version of Pokemon Scarlet & Purple is taking shape
We learned several weeks ago that Pokemon Scarlet & Purple will be among the few Nintendo Switch games to benefit from a completely free upgrade on the new console starting June 5. And now that we're less than a week away from the Switch 2's arrival, the time has come for the publisher to clarify a little bit about what's behind this update, which is highly anticipated by the community. We'll give you a thousand guesses: some great improvements that are sure to make people happy!
Thanks to the power of the Nintendo Switch 2, Pokemon Scarlet & Purple will indeed offer a more vibrant world to explore thanks to a better draw distance and greater fluidity in the controls. Naturally, the graphics will also be improved and refined for greater visual comfort, while the frame rate, which was one of the most critical points of the game until now, will now be significantly more stable. So many improvements that, in fact, should make "the adventure even more enjoyable" according to the company.
An imminent update
However, let's clarify that this is just a simple upgrade. In other words, don't expect a graphical transformation that drastically improves the quality of the game's textures. Pokemon Scarlet & Purple will remain more or less similar to its Nintendo Switch version, but will simply be played in slightly more comfortable conditions. It's still better than nothing, we'd say. And it might give some people something to do while they wait for the release of Pokémon Legends Z-A, scheduled for October 16, 2025 on Switch and Switch 2.
