Rematch: Here are all the updates and features planned for the current hit

Available since June 19, 2025 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Game Pass, Rematch seems to be enjoying a great launch that has sparked curiosity among football fans looking for alternatives to giants like EA Sports FC 25. The title from Sloclap (SIFU), however, suffers from several problems and currently lacks content to keep its players on the pitch. The French studio, however, has well-established plans for its latest game and has announced a comprehensive roadmap to this effect.

The Sloclap coach reveals his strategy for Rematch

After an open beta that convinced its audience last month, Rematch is finally available, and is clearly enjoying a great launch thanks to its dynamic and free-form gameplay. Unfortunately, it suffers from major latency and netcode issues, is somewhat lacking in content as it stands, and lacks cross-play due to "unforeseen complications." Regardless, Sloclap has no plans to abandon its latest game, and has detailed its short- and long-term plans in this regard, as follows.

Planned Emergency Updates

First of all, Rematch should soon seriously overhaul its copy in terms of latency and performance, and the studio is already working on optimizing everything, as well as improving server stability. The same goes for desynchronization, which greatly affects the match experience, and should also receive adjustments very soon. Finally, updates will also arrive quickly to fix the various bugs currently affecting Rematch.

Upcoming Long-Term Adjustments and Features in Rematch

Speaking of features, Sloclap also detailed the new features coming to Rematch in the long term, highlighting four key points: gameplay, competitive and "casual features, and social. For the first point, the studio intends to improve many gameplay elements such as tackling, goalkeeper mechanics and the dribbling system in the coming points. The idea is to add depth at this level, also taking into account community feedback.

Regarding upcoming competitive and casual features for Rematch, Sloclap mentions the addition of tournament systems, ranking systems, and club creation; and new quick-play modes, as well as a rotation of game modes. Similarly, AI-controlled bots should receive adjustments to allow for Players vs. AI matches in various modes.

Finally, adding cross-play is among the studio's top priorities for Rematch, although it is not yet able to say when this will be integrated. Other social features such as a spectator mode or the possibility of restarting a match with and/or against the same players from the current game are also under consideration.
