Resident Evil 9 leaked after its announcement, it will be very popular

Capcom played on the nerves of RE fans at Summer Game Fest 2025 and made it seem like there wouldn't be any announcements. But this was just a setup, as the new game in the cult saga was indeed revealed as "one more thing." And thankfully so, because without it, the event would have been disappointing. Resident Evil 9 Requiem is now official and will even be available "very soon." To everyone's surprise, this new episode is set to release on February 27, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Until then, rumors will be rife, and a leak that will drive fans crazy is circulating online.

A heroine can hide a hero in Resident Evil 9 Requiem

Not much is known about Resident Evil 9 Requiem at the moment, except that Capcom promises an "intense, blood-curdling experience" and a "new era of survival horror" for the franchise. Rumors suggest the developers are trying to reinvent the franchise with more open areas, without resorting to the open world, with a "gothic" and horrific atmosphere. And the first trailer does indeed seem to emphasize a game focused more on horror than action, but we'll have to wait and see.

In Resident Evil 9 Requiem, the player takes on the role of Grace Ashcroft. An FBI technician who is clearly the daughter of journalist Alyssa Ashcroft. A character from RE Outbreak—mentioned in Resident Evil 7—who was murdered in a hotel, which Grace is investigating, and who wanted to expose the Umbrella Corporation. It's a real gamble, as fans were expecting to see iconic characters like Leon S. Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Chris, and Claire Redfield again. But all doesn't seem lost.

Resident Evil 9 was reportedly leaked after its announcement, and it's going to be a big hit. Once again, Dusk Golem claims that Leon S. Kennedy will not only be playable, but will also have a stronger screen presence than Grace. "Leon is the main character in Resident Evil 9 Requiem. You won't see him fully (although he's in the trailer) for a while. But in the final game, you'll play as Leon much more than you do with Grace." According to some, the man in the black oilskin we see in the trailer is Leon.
