This Revolut pilot launch doesn't just modernize the ATM: it rethinks the user experience from A to Z, with embedded technology, futuristic design, and integrated banking services. A world first for the fintech, which plans to expand the concept to other countries by 2026!
New ATMs unlike any other
Clad in an elegant black shell and dominated by a large 32-inch touchscreen, they immediately demonstrate their ambition: to combine ergonomics and innovation. More than just an ATM, this is a true self-service banking hub. Revolut customers can make free and unlimited withdrawals, order a physical bank card instantly, and even open an account on site in just a few minutes. All within an intuitive multilingual interface, designed for both residents and tourists. Security is not left out, with end-to-end encryption and biometric authentication coming soon.
Spain was chosen as the testing ground, a strategic choice: with more than 60% of payments still made in cash in the country, demand for withdrawal services remains strong. Madrid and Barcelona will host the first 50 machines, before a rollout to Valencia, Malaga, and other major cities. Eventually, Revolut aims for 200 ATMs across the country!
A much broader ambition
By installing its own physical points of contact, Revolut is seeking to fill a gap in its strategy: its on-site presence. These terminals allow the fintech to enter the public space, attract new customers, and establish a previously exclusively digital image. A tangible bridge between the digital world of mobile banking and very real everyday needs.
In terms of features, this ATM ticks all the boxes because it allows for fee-free withdrawals, including international ones, with the same competitive exchange rates as those offered in the app. Customers of other banks can also use it, for a transparent fee. Soon, a dynamic conversion function (DCC) will even offer them a choice of exchange rates in real time. Another upcoming innovation: the acceptance of cash deposits, planned for an upcoming update. And for users in a hurry, a simple mobile wallet or facial recognition will be enough to authenticate, without even inserting a card.
With this launch, Revolut is not just renovating the aesthetics: it is dusting off a tool that has remained virtually unchanged for decades. The ATM is becoming a customer acquisition tool, but also a physical ambassador for a 100% digital brand. For Manjot Bhatia, operational partner at Revolut, "this launch marks a key step: we want to offer a truly seamless and comprehensive experience." With these machines, Revolut wants to make a big impact. It remains to be seen how the model will adapt to other European markets.
