Ring Fit 2 should be coming to Switch 2, we have proof thanks to Nintendo

It's the big day! Eight years after the release of the Nintendo Switch, the time has come for the Kyoto-based company to open a new chapter in its history with the arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2. On the agenda: a highly anticipated new installment for Mario Kart with Mario Kart World, but also the imminent return of major franchises like Donkey Kong with Donkey Kong Bananza, or Metroid with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. And this is just the beginning, because many other licenses could be brought back in the coming years... like Ring Fit for example.

A Ring Fit 2 in preparation for Switch 2?

Indeed, if Nintendo's sports game is perhaps not the one we would most expect to see return to Switch 2, we nevertheless know how much the publisher likes to offer original sports experiences to its audience. Especially since the Wii. And, help by COVID-19, the fact is that Ring Fit Adventure has done rather well. In fact, it wouldn't be completely absurd to see the series return in one way or another in this new generation, as some patents filed by Nintendo might suggest.

Because as Nintendo Patents Watch was able to spot on BlueSky, it turns out that the publisher filed a patent just last week for a new accessory whose appearance and function are, for the time being, kept secret. All we know is that it was registered on May 23, 2025, and that it is therefore protected for the next five years. Another detail, however, may be important: the name of its designer. Namely Fumiyoshi Suetake, to whom we also owe the Alarmo alarm clock... and the Ring-Con, which accompanies Ring Fit Adventure.

So of course, as it stands, this is nothing more than simple speculation. However, as Nintendo Patents Watch points out, Suetake is also the author of a training accessory whose patent was filed in 2015 but never saw the light of day. Additionally, the company has reportedly renewed the rights to Ring Fit Adventure over the past two years, which could reflect its desire to continue exploiting the franchise in the years to come.

Or just an accessory compatible with the Switch 2?

Finally, let's also remember that it has already been confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons will not be compatible with the Ring-Con, which makes the title's backward compatibility somewhat outdated. From this point on, we can imagine two scenarios. The first: a Ring Fit 2 is indeed in the works, and with it new accessories. The second: a new version of the Ring-Con compatible with the new Joy-Cons is coming. Unless it's a completely different accessory that has nothing to do with Ring Fit Adventure. But only time will tell.
