Samsung is preparing an ambitious launch for its next foldable smartphone. But contrary to expectations, the focus will not be on the camera. The real change is the massive arrival of artificial intelligence.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is shaping up to be the thinnest foldable model ever designed by Samsung. Early leaks, confirmed by an official teaser, showed a lighter, flatter device with a sleek design. However, this ultra-thin format hides a rather prominent camera block on the back, necessary to house a 200 MP sensor. This contradiction had already surprised some fans, who expected a perfectly uniform smartphone. The manufacturer had nevertheless focused its communication on thinness and portability, going so far as to evoke a new era for its Z range. But according to new information, it is not the photo part that will attract attention at the next Galaxy Unpacked event. The manufacturer plans to put artificial intelligence at the forefront. Thanks to a strengthened partnership with Google, Samsung will deeply integrate Gemini AI on board the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The “Gemini Live” function, capable of interacting in real time with the user, will be one of the key elements of this new version of One UI. AI should therefore be everywhere: in search, text writing, instant translation, or even in replying to messages.
Samsung is banking on Gemini AI to make the Galaxy Z Fold 7 a smarter foldable smartphone than ever
The AI features would also include “Pro-Scaler” to enhance images, “Generative Edits” to create or erase elements in a photo, and tools linked to the Samsung XR platform. The Z Fold 7 would thus become an intelligent personal assistant, more than just a smartphone. The Korean firm wants to reposition its foldable model as a mobile productivity tool enhanced by AI, and no longer just as a high-end technological object.
Samsung is not forgetting the physical elements, however. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is said to feature a new generation of ultra-thin glass (UTG), which is more durable, and a redesigned structure to improve durability. This is crucial, as previous models have often been criticized for their fragility. According to leaks, the manufacturer will present this new model in July, during an Unpacked event that will also highlight the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and its targeted improvements, particularly on the external screen.
Samsung is again going to talk a lot about Gemini at Unpacked, especially “Gemini Live,” which is one of the Highlighting Points of Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Flip 7.
