A new app is coming to Galaxy smartphones, and it's likely to cause a stir. Samsung is partnering with a mobile advertising company to launch an artificial intelligence-powered shopping service. The use would be optional, but could eventually become mandatory on other devices.
Major smartphone brands are increasingly integrating more and more functions related to artificial intelligence. Initially designed to improve photography or productivity, these technologies are now extending to unexpected areas. Online commerce is thus becoming a new testing ground. AI is taking up more and more space in everyday uses, even in contexts as simple as unlocking the screen.
According to a press release, Samsung plans to integrate an e-commerce platform driven by AI on several models of its Galaxy smartphones. This solution is developed by Glance AI, a subsidiary of the InMobi group, already known for having added commercial services to certain Motorola devices. The app, currently rolling out in the United States, would work both as a standalone app and as a module directly integrated into the lock screen. Users will be able to access it voluntarily, but a notification could prompt them to discover it.

The service is based on generative artificial intelligence that suggests outfits every day based on a user's photo. The AI creates personalized montages with different clothing items, which can be purchased directly through the app. These images can also be used as wallpaper. Glance AI is currently rolling out to the Galaxy S22, S23, S24, and S25, with a goal of full coverage within 30 days. Installation remains optional and will not be imposed on the user. Samsung wants to maintain a voluntary framework around this feature, at least initially.
Glance specifies that the tool can also adapt to local trends, events, or popular content to offer more up-to-date suggestions. In India, other versions of Glance already display advertisements and various content on the lock screen. This is not yet the case on Galaxy phones in the United States, but development remains possible. No announcement has been made regarding a rollout in Europe. For the moment, European users are therefore not yet affected by this feature.
