Xbox Game Pass Welcomes Two New Legendary Games

Last week, Xbox Game Pass welcomed three new games, including the fantastic Metaphor ReFantazio, the latest RPG from ATLUS (Persona). On June 5, 2025, Microsoft's flagship subscription service is adding two more truly cult games from this vast genre, despite their venerable age, but fortunately in their most modern version to date.

Xbox Game Pass opens its doors wide for two RPG monuments

Xbox Game Pass is generally remembered for the addition of new games releasing "Day One" on the subscription service, at the same time as on common platforms like PC and Xbox Series. For today's new game arrival on Microsoft's subscription service, however, we're taking the nostalgia route with two true legends of the "Classic" RPG, released in 1998 and 2000 respectively, and developed by the equally iconic BioWare studio.

Starting today, for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, and more specifically on the Xbox and Cloud Gaming platforms, the doors open for Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, in their Enhanced editions, released ten years ago, thus offering a welcome graphical and interface facelift for these two venerable titles. Note that their Enhanced versions were already available on the PC version of the service. This new arrival therefore completes the list of platforms covered by the offer.

As for the games themselves, these are nothing less than some of the best C-RPGs of all time, set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe. We play as a son of Baal, on a epic adventure through the Forgotten Realms and beyond. These two titles, now available on Xbox and Cloud Gaming via Xbox Game Pass, have largely inspired this genre, which is now a little less popular, but still brilliantly represented, notably by Larian Studios and its masterful masterpiece, Baldur's Gate 3, to bring things full circle. If you've never played the games that inspired it, this is the perfect opportunity to discover them.
