It's hard to miss the Squid Game phenomenon. The South Korean series, which no one really bet on, has established itself as one of the biggest global phenomena of recent years, becoming the most-watched non-English series in Netflix history. After two seasons marked by deadly games and betrayals, season 3 promises to be the finale of this bloody odyssey... before a spin-off or another game show.
New (and final?) trailer for Squid Game
As expected, Squid Game occupies a central place in this year's Netflix programming. The third and final season is expected on June 27, and while Gi-hun's latest adventures haven't been unanimously appreciated by fans, the platform intends to do things right. At its traditional TUDUM conference, a brand new trailer was unveiled to the world.
New sadistic games and betrayals, Squid Game is no longer playing and is determined to end on a high note. The trailer even gives away too much about this grand finale, revealing who will have the privilege of sitting at the finalists' table. It's not really a surprise, but Gi-hun is well on his way to winning again. It should be noted, however, that the trailer took care to blur the faces of several victims of a sordid game, to further cultivate the mystery.
A long-awaited conclusion
Season 2 ended on an explosive cliffhanger: Gi-hun's rebellion against the Front Man failed, his best friend was killed, and betrayal plunged our heroes into a desperate situation. This season 3, which ultimately looks more like a part 2, promised to offer a worthy conclusion to Hwang Dong-hyeok's series, which, let's remember, hadn't really planned on playing extra time.
Unsurprisingly, the cast once again brings together Lee Jung-jae (Gi-hun), Lee Byung-hun (Front Man), Wi Ha-jun (Jun-ho) and a host of new faces introduced in season 2. The last two arcs of the saga having been filmed in one go, the final season will stand out as a direct continuation of the previous one. See you on June 27, 2025 on Netflix to discover the end of the story.
