Stardew Valley had better watch out for this ultra-promising competitor.

Stardew Valley had better watch out for this ultra-promising competitor.

No, this isn't yet another Stardew Valley clone. Grave Seasons takes the well-known farming formula... but twists it in an unexpected way. Presented at the PC Gaming Show 2025, this horror-themed farming sim finally unveils its first real gameplay trailer. And the result is as charming as it is disturbing.

Between a vegetable garden and a criminal investigation for this Stardew Valley competitor

At first, everything seems classic in Grave Seasons. You fish, grow your vegetables, sell your crops, and improve your farm. All very familiar. But quickly, the atmosphere changes. In the small town of Ashenridge, strange murders are starting to appear. And guess what? It's up to you to investigate. It's a clear departure from the Stardew Valley atmosphere.

Talk to the locals, search the premises, observe their behavior... and even pick locks to sneak into houses. Yes, Grave Seasons lets you break the rules to uncover the village's secrets. An original mechanic that changes from the traditional “win their friendship with cookies”.

An atmosphere that intrigues

Visually, Grave Seasons plays the cozy Stardew Valley card. But behind its pastel colors and warm settings, we feel a tension that is just waiting to burst. The trailer shows scenes of mysterious gatherings in the forest, ambiguous faces, disturbing silences. Each character seems to be hiding something. And we'll have to listen, observe, guess. Because in Ashenridge, everyone could be a suspect.

For now, no specific date has been announced. We just know that this Stardew Valley competitor is planned for 2026. That leaves time to refine the mechanics and enrich the universe. And frankly, given what's been shown, the wait could be worth it. If you like management games but are tired of overly nice universes, Grave Seasons could well be the most disturbing cozy game of 2026.
