The Steam Deck, the first portable PC console to hit the market in February 2022, has seen many competitors since its launch. The ASUS ROG Ally, the Lenovo Legion GO, and the Razer Edge are very serious rivals for Valve's machine.
The manufacturer must therefore find ways to stand out, knowing that the Steam Deck is far from being the most powerful console in its category. The arrival of a native GeForce NOW application from Nvidia could take the Steam Deck into a new era.
A native GeForce NOW application available on the Steam Deck
Nvidia announced the upcoming arrival of a native version of its GeForce NOW application on the Steam Deck at CES 2025 last January. The American company is keeping its promise, as its cloud gaming app was released on May 29th on Valve's console.
The Nvidia GeForce NOW service provides access to a catalog of more than 2,000 cloud gaming games. The whole point is to be able to enjoy these titles in very high graphic quality, regardless of the power of the console you're playing on. All you need is a good internet connection to play in very good conditions thanks to Nvidia's servers.
The launch of GeForce Now on the Steam Deck, a console limited in terms of power, is therefore more than significant. "The application is now available and players can stream titles on the Steam Deck up to 4K 60 frames per second – connected to a TV – with HDR10, NVIDIA DLSS 4 and Reflex technologies on supported titles," says Nvidia. Of course, you need to have the Ultimate subscription level, the highest, to benefit from the most advanced technologies.
You can enjoy your Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft, Battle.net and Xbox libraries thanks to GeForce NOW on the Steam Deck. The service also supports more than 180 PC Game Pass titles.
The graphics card specialist is celebrating the launch of GeForce NOW on the Steam Deck by adding six new games to its catalog: Nice Day for Fishing, Cash Cleaner Simulator, Tokyo Xtreme Racer, The Last Spell, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, and Torque Drift 2.
Installing GeForce NOW on your Steam Deck is easy: just go to the service's website in desktop mode and start the download. You should be amazed by the current high-demand games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and DOOM: The Dark Ages. Until now, gamers had to go through their Steam Deck's browser to use GeForce Now, limiting the service's capabilities.
