The Nintendo Switch 2 is the best console ever

The Nintendo Switch 2 is the best console ever

The Nintendo Switch 2 has been available on the market for barely 6 days, and it's already breaking an extraordinary record. Although we've heard a lot of negative things about the console from both the public and professional critics, it seems to be much more popular than we imagined. Nintendo has revealed the first sales figures, and they are simply extraordinary.

In just 4 days of availability, the company has sold 3.5 million copies of its new console. Without context, this number may seem abstract. For comparison, the first Switch sold 2.74 million copies... in one month. Even among other manufacturers, the contrast is significant. The PS5, for example, sold 4.5 million units in 6 weeks, while the PS4 recorded 2.1 million sales in 2 weeks.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is already the best console of all time in terms of launch. At this rate, Nintendo's objectives will indeed be met despite the fact that the bar has been set extremely high. It should be noted that analysts say the manufacturer hopes to sell 20 million consoles in the first year. The holiday season is the ideal time to boost sales of the machine, as most families see the Switch 2 as a common interest.

Wasn't it too expensive?

This success is both expected and surprising. The first Switch sold like hotcakes, right up until the last second of its lifespan. Its concept of a home console coupled with a portable console has attracted many users, from young and old, including families and those who love to organize parties with friends, but also those who play on the go. Considering that the Switch 2 takes exactly the same qualities, adds new features and corrects some of the mistakes of the past, it was expected that it would be at the top of wish lists.

That was without counting on the announcement of its price which put off more than one player. Sold alone at €470 or in a pack from €510, it is worth a new PS5 and is listed at €200 more than an Xbox Series S, two consoles that are nevertheless much more powerful than the Switch 2. Its price, justified by the use cases, a unique gameplay model and a more or less significant margin, has created a new trend in controversy, especially concerning the price of Nintendo games such as Mario Kart World (€90 new in physical edition).

More fear than harm, Nintendo is absolutely not to be pitied today. It seems that the disgruntled people are the ones making the most noise, although it is still possible that these same disgruntled people still paid because "it's still a good console, even if it's too expensive."
