First announced at CES 2024 and then made official at the 2025 edition, Samsung's The Premiere 5 projector had aroused great curiosity before falling under the radar. Now it's back in the spotlight, with a simple but ambitious promise: to adapt to all times of the day.
With its compact and sleek design, The Premiere 5 is designed to move and adapt to new lifestyles. It features ultra-short throw triple laser technology to project an image up to 100 inches (2.54 m), with automatic focus and image correction. Samsung claims that its model avoids the "headache" when it comes to settings.
The projector offers a high-quality Full HD experience, with "vivid colors" and 500 lumens of brightness, supported by a 10W Dolby Atmos sound system. During the day, Samsung wants to make it a teleworking partner that connects to your smartphone and offers a new screen, in addition to your computer's.
The projector becomes a touchscreen... and your table transforms into a tablet
But where Samsung surprises with The Premiere 5 is with its touch function. Supplied with a dedicated accessory, The Premiere 5 can project an interactive image from 20 to 40 inches horizontally, on a table, desk, or even on the floor. The possibilities are numerous and should help Samsung's product become indispensable for the whole family. Among the use cases, it becomes possible to use the compact video projector to follow a cooking recipe on your work surface, without fear of dirtying the screen. Or, take a yoga class with the video projected on the floor, right next to your mat. For children, the living room table transforms into a play or drawing area.
Like its big brothers and the brand's televisions, this video projector incorporates the Tizen OS interface. It thus provides access to numerous streaming applications (Netflix, Prime Video, etc.) and Samsung's Gaming Hub. Without a console, it is possible to play thousands of Xbox games, NVIDIA GeForce NOW and other platforms in streaming with a simple controller. It can even transform into a connected speaker to broadcast playlists or into a voice assistant via Bixby.
The price of versatility
This desire to offer a versatile product with a compact design, however, comes at a cost. The Premiere 5 is positioned in a rather premium segment, with a price of 1790.40 euros. Deliveries will begin on July 9, according to the French website of the South Korean brand. At a time when the competition is offering 4K video projectors at comparable (or cheaper) prices, the choice of a "only" Full HD definition for this price could be a deterrent for image purists. From June 11 to 24, 2025, inclusive, the price of this ultra-short throw projector is lowered. Indeed, the manufacturer is refunding €300 for the purchase of this product as part of a refund offer (refund within 4 weeks after validation of the file).
Samsung is nevertheless betting with this projector, one that consumers will favor the versatility and innovation of the touch screen over pure resolution. The Premiere 5 may not be the best projector for uncompromising moviegoers, but it aims to be adapted to new hybrid lifestyles. It remains to be seen if the public will follow.
