Maxis has just released a new update for The Sims 4, available on PC, Mac, and consoles. While it may seem like a modest patch, weighing in at around 700 MB, this update sets the stage for upcoming events while also addressing several complaints from the community.
A transitional update, but useful for The Sims 4
Without any major gameplay updates, this The Sims 4 patch focuses on game stability and targeted fixes. In particular, it seems to anticipate the upcoming arrival of the Call of the Wild content, which would explain the desire to stabilize the game environment before its launch.
Another point to note: this The Sims 4 update finally allows players on Xbox and PlayStation to access the improvements made in the May 27 patch, already deployed earlier on PC and Mac. A welcome catch-up for a more consistent experience across platforms.
Notable fixes made
This update focuses on a series of targeted fixes, directly based on community feedback on The Sims 4. Among the most significant adjustments is the resolution of a visual bug where Sim models could appear distorted after an age change followed by a trip. Sims' portraits now display correctly with their work attire when they start a career, a frequently noted aesthetic detail. On the gameplay side, players who manage small businesses will no longer see their employees disappear when they return to their lot from the Manage Worlds or Create a Sim menus. The Sims 4 Seasons Pack also benefits from fixes, with the return of the New Year's Resolutions menu and the reappearance of text in the Scout Badge progression interface. These small adjustments, taken together, contribute to a more fluid and coherent experience.
In a message shared via Discord, The Sims 4 development team also announced that a fix for the indoor rain bug, one of the most frustrating issues for many players, is being finalized. It should be part of the next major update. Maxis also plans to publish a new Laundry List soon detailing other known issues currently under review.
