Luma, a company specializing in AI video creation, unveils a new feature that transforms your existing films. The result is impressive in terms of quality and possibilities.
Creating videos from scratch is within everyone's reach. Simply turn to one of the many services that use artificial intelligence to produce a clip based on what you have in mind. For example, you can use Bing's video generator for free. But for those who want to go further, there's something new.
Last year, we told you about Luma, which showcased its generative AI that could revolutionize filmmaking. The company has continued to grow, and today it's introducing a tool that lets you edit your own videos. Ideal for preserving your overall vision of the scene and camera movements, for example. Here's what you can achieve with it.
Film whatever you want, this AI will take care of turning it into a big production
The examples visible on the Luma website are numerous and clearly demonstrate the tool's capabilities. As an illustration for this article, we see a man lying on the ground pretending to be in space, with the final result on the left. Another filmed on a wall in a parking lot becomes a skater speeding on a hoverboard in a futuristic city. Even a child lifted by his father during the day turns into an alien abduction at night.
The AI modification system offers 3 levels of retouching. “Adhere” is the most subtle. It will keep as many elements of the initial scene as possible and just change your clothes for example. “Flex” does the same thing, but also takes care of lighting or other more global details. Finally, “Reimagine” alters just about everything, transforming you into a monster or cartoon character in an imaginary universe.
Luma claims that its solution is more efficient than the competition, particularly in terms of tracking movements and facial expressions. Currently, edited videos are limited to a maximum of 10 seconds, with a resolution of 720p in a 16:9 format.
This is already enough to get an idea of the tool's already impressive potential. At the time of publishing this article, it is not available on Dream Machine despite the button inviting you to try it. It is likely a temporary bug, so we invite you to try your luck.
