This Star Trek series promises to be the best of the entire franchise

Wouldn't summer 2025 be the perfect time to (re)enter the universe of Star Trek? On July 17, the series Strange New Worlds will launch its third batch of episodes on Paramount+. And since this broadcast is fast approaching, the platform has prepared a new trailer to dazzle us. The goal is clear: to offer viewers the most original Star Trek series to date. “New loves, new adventures, and new worlds” promises the trailer, accompanied by ever more visually surprising sequences. A reminder that the cult franchise is far from being old-fashioned.

The same observation is made in the new synopsis shared by Paramount, which does not hesitate to specify that this new season takes all the characters to new heights and plunges them into thrilling adventures of faith, duty, romance, comedy and mystery, varying the genres: something never seen before in any other Star Trek. If competing sci-fi productions no longer convince you, but Star Trek has always been too niche and inaccessible for you, this series could well be a perfect gateway. And the cherry on top: this CBS show has already been renewed for a fourth season, so you can jump in without fear of ending up hungry.

How do you know if Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is right for you?

Star Trek is such a pop culture icon that it's become daunting to try and discover it today. This vast universe made up of multiple series, films, and other spin-offs is not easy to approach. But it would be a shame to miss Strange New Worlds for fear of being lost. Because even though this television production is a prequel to the original 1966 series, as well as a spin-off of Star Trek: Discovery, everything is done to offer a Star Trek experience that is both authentic and accessible to the public.

The adventures presented in Strange New Worlds have managed to find a perfect balance between epic moments, comedic sequences, and emotional moments for a particularly endearing and captivating result. The pitch is simple: six years before Kirk's inauguration as command of the USS Enterprise (the franchise's iconic ship), Captain Christopher Pike and his crew explore the far corners of the galaxy in search of new worlds.

But in a universe like this, unknown territories are generally synonymous with surprises of all kinds. Thus, viewers craving intergalactic adventures with retro charm will not fail to find what they are looking for. As a reminder, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is broadcast on Paramount+ in France, a service available as a single subscription or as part of certain Canal+ offers.
