Twitch announces major changes expected for over a decade

Twitch's big event, TwitchCon, is already celebrating its tenth anniversary. While the service launched in June 2011, the idea came in 2015 to bring fans and streamers together for a biannual convention. A decade later, it's the perfect event to announce major changes coming to the platform. A small revolution is underway for users, you'll see.

Twitch is getting a complete facelift

The latest edition of TwitchCon has just ended, taking place from May 31 to June 1. On this occasion, a ton of ambitious new features were unveiled for the platform. The goal is clear: to modernize the user experience and further support creators by rethinking monetization.

The first major change for Twitch is the upcoming introduction of vertical streaming, which is better suited to mobile playback. This is made possible by the newly implemented dual-format streaming system. The interface should adapt directly to the orientation of your phone. Test sessions will begin this summer.

But that's not the only new feature in terms of image. Twitch will open a beta for 2K (1440p) streaming. This technical advancement is made possible by more efficient HEVC encoding, guaranteeing sharper and smoother resolution. Registration is already open, but it is reserved for partnered and affiliated creators.

In addition, a highly anticipated feature is finally answering the call on Twitch. This is the rewind on live steam. Users will now be able to pause the program they are watching, rewind, and then return to the live broadcast. This should bring significant comfort to viewers.

To conclude, Twitch also announced something new for streamers. Adequate tools will be made available to access monetization without even being an affiliate. From now on, they will also be able to launch their own sub promotions, with a maximum discount of 35%. Clips, meanwhile, will take on greater importance in an attempt to boost a channel's visibility. Ten years after major new features, a breath of fresh air is finally blowing through the platform!
