WhatsApp will summarize the messages you haven't read

WhatsApp will summarize the messages you haven't read

WhatsApp is working on a feature that can summarize the unread messages you've received. Development of this feature is already advanced enough that WhatsApp is starting to roll it out to some users of the beta version of the app.

WhatsApp will summarize the messages you don't have time to read

Whether it's a group conversation or a one-on-one conversation, you're likely skipping some discussions due to lack of time. To save you from having to catch up on dozens of unread messages, WhatsApp will soon be able to provide you with a complete summary. Everything that was said in unread exchanges is condensed without you having to scroll back through the entire thread to catch up.

To do this, WhatsApp will rely on Meta AI. According to WABetaInfo, which reported the news, this new option works in a way that maintains the privacy and security of your communications. The summaries are generated using Meta's "private processing" system. This is a private processing technology that is supposed to allow access to the Cloud without Meta or WhatsApp being able to access the content of the conversations, the exchanges being end-to-end encrypted.

Summary messages and writing tools

Some beta testers have already seen them displayed on their application a screen inviting them to test the feature by activating it in the application's Settings. When activated, the feature adds a "Summarize with Meta AI" button above unread messages. Simply tap it for Meta AI to summarize what was said. Apparently, the process leaves no message data or traces.

It should also be noted that this feature will be accompanied by the arrival of writing assistance tools which are, again, powered by Meta AI. WhatsApp specifies, however, that this feature, still under development, will arrive soon.
