Hyper launches a haptic trackpad for Windows worthy of that of Apple

Apple mice — all periods combined — have always sparked controversy, whether we remember the round mouse from the first generations of the iMac or, closer to home, the Magic Mouse with its rather delicate ergonomics and its “underneath” charging. It is also rumored that a new version is in development.

A trackpad in your hand

On the other hand, the manufacturer’s trackpads have always been popular, and this is also the case for the Magic Trackpad, often imitated, never equaled. Hyper, a sub-brand of Targus, intends to take on the industry leader with the HyperSpace Trackpad Pro. Intended for Windows initially (a software update for macOS is in the pipeline), this trackpad offers haptic feedback as well as support for multi-touch gestures, to hide the desktop or zoom in on an image for example.

Hyper also promises the ability to customize the corners of the trackpad, to launch shortcuts or perform specific actions in software (an example: display the next PowerPoint slide by touching the right corner). Among the other customization options, we should also note the one allowing you to adjust the pressure sensitivity or even the choice of sounds produced by the trackpad!

The touch surface of the trackpad is announced with zero latency and a precision of 240Hz. It benefits from an automatic palm detection function to avoid false contacts. A little extra originality: the wrist rest, magnetic, is detachable! The device, which will be available in the second quarter, will cost $129.99.
