If you're the messy type, you've probably already given up on buying a robot vacuum cleaner for fear that the poor guy will get stuck in dirty laundry. Automatic vacuum cleaners have reached an advanced level of refinement in recent years, but until now they were not capable of handling a sock lying around other than as an obstacle.
In the purest tradition of CES, Roborock is taking advantage of the 2025 edition to unveil a showcase product that is out of the ordinary. The Saros Z70 actually includes a robotic arm to catch dirty laundry, no less.
A few limitations
Last year, the brand released an S8 MaxV Ultra equipped with small arms at the front. We are now moving into a whole new category with an articulated arm coming out of a hatch on the top of the device. According to The Verge, who was able to see the robot in a demo, the arm is said to be particularly slow. For example, it takes about a minute to pick up a sock.
Another limitation: the objects that can be picked up must weigh a maximum of 300 g and belong to a very limited list: socks, handkerchiefs, towels and sandals (?). New objects should be added over the course of updates.
A product and not a concept
The arm in question, called Omnigrip, can be oriented vertically horizontally and integrates a camera as well as a flash. It also has a flight of sensors for the weight and position of the objects targeted. These are then deposited at the location of your choice.
The price of the Roborock Saros Z70 is currently unknown and it should be available from June 2025. This is not a concept in any way. Roborock does indeed intend to sell this product.
