French smart ring manufacturer Circular has managed to make headlines at CES 2025 with its new ring. The second generation of its Circular Ring, presented at the Las Vegas show, has added an electrocardiogram (ECG).
Spotted by Tech Crunch, this announcement is relatively impressive, since no major player in the sector has tried to integrate this technology into such a small format. Even Samsung, accustomed to the ECG on its Galaxy Watch, had not integrated it on its Galaxy Ring.
An elegant integration
As a reminder, an ECG on a connected watch will use electrical signals to analyze the health of the heart and, if necessary, identify possible pathologies. In the case of the Circular Ring 2, the ring is according to the manufacturer capable of detecting atrial fibrillation and will for its part be based on a PPG sensor. The latter is a device using the reverberation of a projected light.
According to the first feedback from the American press who were able to see it in the corridors of the show, despite this integration, the brand would have managed to provide a remarkably light product.
The manufacturer also promises better autonomy, rising to 8 days of consecutive use. The application would also have been reworked for a more intuitive result. On the other hand, this second generation abandons the vibration motor. This should return in a future iteration, explained the co-founder of the brand to our colleagues at Engadget.
Price and availability
The Circular Ring 2 will be available around February or March in four colors: gold, silver, black and rose gold. You will have to pay $380 to get your hands on it. We do not yet know the price in euros.
