A month after the release of Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle on Xbox and PC (with a Day One arrival on Game Pass), Microsoft shares the numbers, and they are not exactly sparkling.
Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle misses its launch
Available since December 9 on PC, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, with a Day One integration into Game Pass and Game Pass PC, Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle has attracted only four million players in one month. Among the four million, Microsoft counts all the players who downloaded the game via Game Pass (which has more than 30 million subscribers) as well as the game's sales on the Xbox Store and the different platforms on which the game is available. This gives us rather low figures, especially if we take into account that only 12% of players have completed the game (according to success statistics).
Compared to other launches, Forza Horizon 5 in November 2021, had over 4.5 million players on D-Day and 10 million players after one week. Regarding Halo Infinite, which was far from being a success, the latest opus of the Master Chief accumulated more than 20 million players in one month at the beginning of 2022. The title was released one day before Indiana Jones, on December 8, 2021. A hell of a difference over the same period.
This can necessarily be explained by the power of the Forza Horizon and Halo licenses, especially on Microsoft consoles. And it's a shame, when we know at how Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle is an excellent game. Let's hope that its release on PS5, still set for spring, will give it a second youth to radically inflate the numbers.
Let's also hope that the DLC planned for the coming weeks and months can attract other players. In any case, according to the latest rumors, MachineGames would already be working on other games and could make Indiana Jones a real license in the video game.
